Oaklawn appears to be a mixed experience, primarily centered around the casino and racetrack. Recent reviews highlight issues with security personnel and customer service, while one recent positive review emphasizes the luxurious atmosphere and attentive service. However, there are concerns regarding security protocols and a lack of convenience features like ticket machines.
This post is about the casino. The hotel looks very nice. The casino I should of believed the locals when they said this casino is listed as the worst casino in America. I won't ever come back to this casino. They rob you. All machines are rigged. Not only that, the other reviews were correct, the dealers are mean. But what really got me is when I heard the security and managers escort someone out for winning too much money. They said "We have been observing you with the cameras, you need to leave" I guess they are watching everyone else also and making sure you do not win too much money. SMH. I would give no stars if I could. Big oversized parking plenty of empty room to park but if you are a truck driver, security will run you off property.
I was at the casino at around 4 am Monday May 4 , i asked the security if he call a taxi for me, he said later.Later on he called them and he said the phone was ringing and he was also instructed to use another company and they were both ringing and not answering . So i told him i used the companySunday morning May 3 and he came.So i asked him the telephone company of the Spa taxi and i called and somebody answered and i told her the security said nobody was answering .She said i’m just here.I asked the security guard his name and he said he called his supervisor. As i was sitting on the bench waiting for his supervisor , The security guard left his post walking in a circle and pacing. This guy has tattoos on his chest. The supervisor came and said i was irritated and i said i am not happy because he said that you changed taxi company and i said i just used it yesterday and was able to contact them. I heard him asked the guy if he dialed 501 and he said yes. Finally this supervisor said the telephone is not working and that can happen. The supervisor asked me to leave, did not even apologize , rude , entitled with his security guard job ,disrespectful . I do not know if these people are mentally fit for their job they were hired. You need to check them. I looked at the previous reviews and i saw Spencer the security guard was mentioned twice for bad behavior. Though these people , are working to ensure safety of the place, they should study customer service. I never had any problems going home early in the morning except for that day, The security guards always called the taxi for me and watched till i got picked up. I was very frustrated with the guy with tattoos on his chest pacing as well as the security supervisor at that time.
From the moment we arrived at Oaklawn Hot Springs, the experience felt different… this is not just a hotel, it’s an atmosphere. The arrival is seamless: everything is perfectly organized, with a modern yet warm ambiance that immediately draws you in. The design strikes that rare balance between contemporary luxury and genuine comfort. It never feels cold or impersonal — it feels alive. The valet parking service was absolutely flawless. Smooth, efficient, and handled with a level of professionalism that immediately sets the tone for your stay. It’s one of those details that might seem small, but it elevates the entire experience from the very beginning. We stayed in a Junior Suite with a direct view of the racetrack, and honestly… it was on another level. Waking up to horses running right in front of us was something truly special — one of those moments that feels almost cinematic. The room itself is simply spectacular: spacious, elegant, and thoughtfully designed with a clean, modern aesthetic. Every detail is intentional. The bed is incredibly comfortable, but what impressed us the most was the silence. You hear absolutely nothing. It’s a deep, complete sense of tranquility that truly allows you to disconnect. The overall feel of the room is warm and inviting, with a calming energy that makes you want to stay in and enjoy the space rather than rush out. The room itself becomes part of the experience. And one detail that truly elevated everything: the turn-down service — a level of attention to detail that is becoming increasingly rare and almost lost in many hotels today. That classic touch of high-end hospitality that you don’t always find. Coming back to a room prepared for rest, with that extra level of care, makes a lasting impression and makes you feel genuinely taken care of. This is the kind of place that invites you to fully immerse yourself — to enjoy every service the hotel offers, from the rooms to the amenities, because everything is executed at such a high level. In short, Oaklawn may be rated as a four-star property… but it absolutely feels like a five-star experience. Elegance, tranquility, thoughtful details, and a memorable stay from start to finish. Without a doubt, a place we would return to.
Overall a decent Casino and excellent Race Track with a couple of minor flaws...the need to scan IDs is intrusive and unnecessary and definitely makes a bad first impression... Is it really necessary??? Also I've never been to a Casino that had less automated Ticket Cashing Machines... seriously, they need to add more...also very high Table Limits especially on weekends, makes it easy to keep my $$$ in my pocket. I'd give the Casino 3 Stars and the Racetrack 5...
My fiancée and I visited last night for the first time to celebrate his birthday and had a very disappointing experience at the entrance. When his ID was scanned, it did not read correctly the first time. The head of night security, Spencer, immediately told us to leave the property. I politely asked if they could please scan it again, and when they did, it worked without any issue. Despite that, Spencer said he had already told us to leave and insisted we exit. His tone and behavior were rude and unnecessarily aggressive. I understand that security policies are important, but professionalism and respectful communication matter just as much. As we were leaving, I told him "God bless you" and to have a blessed day, because we chose to handle the situation calmly. Unfortunately, the experience left a very negative first impression. We go to Hot Springs almost every weekend. It’s a shame we can’t enjoy and support the casino because of poor service. I hope management addresses how guests are treated at the entrance.
