Arsenic and Old Lace B&B offers a comfortable and delicious breakfast with friendly hosts, Brett and Liz. While the hosts' casual attire can feel somewhat informal compared to a traditional B&B, the overall experience is positive and memorable, particularly for special occasions like weddings or anniversaries. Expect a restful and charming stay with thoughtful touches.

We had a lovely stay overall! The rooms were beautiful, clean, and comfortable, the breakfast was great, and our host was genuinely very kind and welcoming. That said, as a first-time bed and breakfast guest, I may have watched one too many movies and expected to be greeted by a charming older couple with tea, scones, and maybe a little Victorian flair. Instead, we were welcomed by a very nice man in shorts, a T-shirt, and bare feet, looking like he may have just rolled out of bed. He was incredibly friendly, but I’ll admit it did make the experience feel a little more like staying at a family member’s house than checking into a quaint B&B. That feeling continued a bit with the shared kitchen area, where dishes were piled up after breakfast. I completely understand breakfast cleanup takes time, but since it was a shared guest space, it added to the “staying with relatives” feeling. A prep kitchen or a quick cleanup after breakfast would really help keep the guest areas feeling polished. He also served breakfast barefoot the first morning, which gave us a good laugh and definitely made the stay memorable. When more people checked in, he did serve food with shoes on the following days, lol. A simple “Arsenic and Old Lace” embroidered polo, shorts, and shoes would have gone a long way in matching the charm of the property itself. All in all, the service was wonderful, the host was kind, (didn’t see Liz at all) the room was spotless, and breakfast was delicious. Just maybe bring your sense of humor — and don’t expect tea and scones at the door!

Unfortunately, I did not have the pleasure of staying here. However, Liz was so helpful and kind to me when my Tesla rental literally died in one of her charging spots. We needed her husbands help and he was briefly out running errands, and while we waited she offered me and my husband access to her beautiful wrap around porch for more comfort and anything else we needed on top of taking care of a newborn baby! While others may have considered us a bother, she showed us true empathy and kindness, and willingness to help a stranger. Thank you again, Liz! I plan to make this my next stay next time I pass through. ?
